Therapy
Psychotherapy can be a very powerful tool for facilitating and supporting life changes and a remedy for human suffering. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's emotional stability and wellbeing, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behavior, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills. Therapy can also enhance awareness about and ability to make choices in a way that facilitates growth and increases the ability to live a satisfying and fulfilling life.
Therapy is a collaborative process in which the therapist's role is to develop a meaningful connection and work closely with each individual, couple or family, assess areas of concern, help identify contributing factors, and foster a sense of and capacity for change. Although taking medications can be helpful and is sometimes necessary, pharmacotherapy does not replace the emotional connection that can be experienced during therapy.
